Questions about courses, trainers and makeup kit

• Why should I choose London Makeup Studio (LMS)?

  The aim of the London Makeup Studio (LMS) is to provide the best makeup training possible in London, Manchester and Liverpool at a competitive price so that the student will be best prepared to pursue makeup artistry as a viable career.

• Do I need any previous makeup experience?

  No previous experience is needed unless students want to take part in our advanced courses. Our training courses are open to everyone.

• What are the courses and workshops do you offer?

  We offer Makeup Artistry courses for the aspiring makeup artist or young start up.

  • Certificate in Professional Makeup Artistry
  • Certificate in Advanced Makeup and Hair Styling
  • Certificate in Bridal Makeup
  • Certificate in High Fashion Makeup

• How long are your courses?

  Our courses are 2-4 weeks long between Monday ‐ Thursday, weekends, afternoon or evening, with the exception of CPMA, a one session, 3-hour course.  The day class is from 10.00 am ‐ 4:30 pm, and the evening class is from 6:00 pm ‐ 9:00 pm.

• Which course is the best to start with as a MUA?

  Please visit our website and click on the  “Training” link page to view our course selection map with brief description of your skills and interest level. Our academic team has designed these courses to prepare you for a challenging career as a makeup artist with knowledge, skills and practice.  You can always start with “Certificate in Professional Makeup Artistry (CPMA)” course unless the administrator determines that you have had sufficient experience and training to bypass CPMA. Our aim is to ensure that the student has been well trained in multiple makeup applications, products and techniques, resulting in a highly marketable and reputable makeup artist.

• What are your classes like?

  We keep our classes small sizes to give our students the best possible learning experience, and give you the chance to spend some one-to-one time with your tutor. The training is blended with theory and demonstration, later you will have the chance to practice with others, and on yourself.

• Who will be my trainers?

  At London Makeup Studio, we believe that to be the best so you have to learn from the best. All our trainers are highly experienced and have worked on film, television, magazine and catwalk shoots.     They pride themselves on knowing the industry inside out and therefore can share some of the secrets with you. They will give you the advice that you need, with anecdotal evidence.

• Do you provide makeup or makeup kit?

  This option depends on your selected course. If you enroll in our most popular course, Certificate in Professional Makeup Artistry, than everything will be provided to you during this course, like personal mirrors, brush sets and range of MAC products for makeup application.
  For all other makeup courses like Bridal or fashion we encourage students to prepare their own makeup kit from the range of popular makeup brands including MAC, MAKE UP FOREVER, BOBBIE BROWN,  Kryolan, CharlesFox and Motives. We do provide hair styling practice heads, along with the tools like brushes & tongs for all hair styling courses.

• How much is the Makeup Kit?

  The cost of a makeup kit can range from £150 – £350. We help students to assemble their kits, taking into account the products they prefer and price points that meet their needs. LMS is also a MAC approved training provider, which means students, can apply for a 20% discount through MAC.

Questions about the course enrolment, payment methods, refund and voucher redemption

• How I can enroll for a course?

  Our course enrolment process is very straightforward. You can simply select a course of your choice according to your level or interest, select a suitable available course date, choose your nearest location, fill an online enrolment form and finally pay your initial fee deposit or full fee by different available payment methods.

• Do you have any age limit to attend your makeup courses?

  All applicants must be 16 years or older in order to apply to attend a makeup training course at the London Makeup Studio. In exceptional circumstances where the attendee is under the age limit then he/she must accompanied with an adult by paying a separate course fee.

• How I can pay for the course?

  You can pay by redeemable “Voucher Code”, PayPal or directly into our bank account. Don’t forget to include your reference number.

• Can I pay by redeemable promotional voucher code?

  Yes you can. We accept various providers voucher code, like “Wowcher” or “Groupon”. In order to confirm your booking for the selected course, you must provide us your voucher code before receiving any booking confirmation. You have to provide us the following information for a swift booking confirmation.

  Please provide us a valid daytime/evening mobile or landline number. Your booking request may be delayed or cancelled without a valid contact number.

• Can I bring my friend with me but he/she doesn’t have a voucher?

  Yes you can. If you wish to bring your friend or any family member with you and he/she doesn’t have a voucher than you can pay us the voucher value by selecting another convenient method, e.g. PayPal or directly into our bank account. Please create a support e-ticket to provide us your friend or family member details. For example, full name, course date, location, payment proof and contact number.

• Can I extend my voucher expiry date?

  Unfortunately, this option is not available but in some special circumstances, we may request to the provider company to assist us in this matter. Please create a support e-ticket if you wish to use your expired voucher code with the following information.

  • Choice of a suitable course date and location
  • A valid contact number
  • Expired voucher code number or copy of the “fine print”

• What if I want to change or cancel my course booking date within your given time limit?

  You can change or cancel your selected course booking date by considering the following options.

  1. You can change your booking status by login to your account from the website
  2. Creating a support e-ticket and request for your booking cancellation or amendment

  In case if you wish to change the course booing date than you must provide us 3 optional dates of your choice to reserved a place for you.

• What if I want to change or cancel my course booking date outside the time limit described in your terms and conditions?

  We may consider this exception in the case of an emergency but a small admin fee may charged at the time of your next available course booking.

• How can I get a refund for my voucher?

Questions about the course completion certificate, free brush set

• Do I receive a certificate after completing the course?

  The training method that we use at the London Makeup Studio is called “Competency Based Training”.          This means if you are competent in all your assessments, you will receive a recognised qualification at the end of your course. This qualification will be valid for professional indemnity insurance to work as a qualified makeup artist in the UK.   If however you fail to submit your assessments and you are marked “not yet competent” then you will receive a course attendance certificate with the statement of attainment at the end of your course.

  You are required to pay a minimum fee of £20, to cover the administration cost. If you have any questions, please create a support e-ticket with your enquiry.

• Why I still haven’t received my course completion certificate?

  The delay could be due to the following reasons.

  1. Unpaid administration fee
  2. Wrong or missing postal address

• Are the brushes provided at the course MAC?

  No, the brush set is not from MAC. We never advertised this information in any digital/print material, promotional deal or social media platforms. You must recheck the content of your purchased voucher fine print to confirm any discrepancies. If you find any reference to your claim then please contact us as soon as possible so we can refer this issue to the relevant marketing partner.

• Can I pay for my certificate in the class?

  Yes, you can pay for administration fee in the class.

• Do you offer any special discounts or promotional offers?

  Yes, we do promote some of our high demand courses and products through out the year at various marketing and advertising platforms. Please signup for our monthly newsletter to receive special deals and discounts. Please contact us if you have any question before or after purchasing your promotional deal voucher.

• Do I need to be qualified for a career as an MUA?

  Although you may think you must hold a qualification in makeup to be successful, this is not the case. Many of the industries biggest stars never held a qualification. In this industry, your portfolio is the only proof you need, so having a professional and complete portfolio will open the door to work as an MUA.

• Do I get work experience or job placement after the course?

  Like the many industries such as fashion & media, experience is key, so the more experience you gain, the bigger your chance of finding work, versus your grades on an exam. We recommend you to stay in touch with the Makeup Artist community by staying connected with our social media platforms or networking events. All the jobs presented to and offered by the LMS, are frequently posted and offered to LMS students.

• And what do I do after the course?

  Many students wonder, what do I do now? when finishing their course at other makeup schools. LMS doesn’t believe the end of the class should be the end of your journey with us and have created a selection of professional business packages providing the kick start you may need for your career.
